Program Introduction
Tianjin boasts a long history and a rich heritage of folk handicrafts and traditional customs. This summer camp focuses on Tianjin’s intangible cultural heritage, covering renowned crafts such as Clay Figurines of Zhang, Yangliuqing New Year Paintings, Weifang Kites, and Traditional Crosstalk.
Itinerary
Tianjin

Arrival in Tianjin, introduction to intangible cultural heritage, icebreaker games, cultural tour

Visit a heritage workshop, learn about the history of New Year paintings, hands-on painting experience.
Night cruise on the Haihe River

Clay sculpture workshop, listen to a crosstalk (Chinese Comedy) performance, try performing crosstalk

Learn about kite-making history, experience paper-cutting art, and paint your own kite.

Watch the Mahua-making process.
Explore Rongyuan, the first private Qing Dynasty garden in Tianjin



Stop by the Beijiang Museum.
Then experience dumpling making, hairpin crafting, and fan making.

Tianjin Foreign Studies University (TFSU), established in 1964, is a public institution located in Tianjin, China, specializing in foreign language education. As one of China’s eight foremost higher education institutions in this field, TFSU offers a diverse range of programs across seven disciplines: Literature, Economics, Management, Law, Education, Art, and Engineering.
The university provides instruction in 17 foreign languages, including English, Japanese, French, German, Russian, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Arabic, Korean, and Swahili. Notably, TFSU is among the few Chinese universities offering programs in less commonly taught languages such as Swahili.

Requirements

- In possession of a valid U.S. or Canadian passport that expires after August 1st, 2025, and a valid Chinese Visa
